This weekend me and Tom are visiting home, we arrived last night (Friday) and will leave on Sunday some time.
It’s always good to come here if for no other reason than one if forced to take it easy as all the usual things that take up your time are missing. There was a time not so long ago when my mobile phone didn’t even get a signal here so usually the days are spent reading and talking and of course taking Tommy for a walk. Today we went for a walk in the forest not far from where I first discovered lying in the grass by the side of the road. I don’t think he remembers anything about that anymore instead he concentrates on all the new sniffs which seem to be different to the ones where we live now.
There was a time not so long ago when Tommy would go crazy when passing other dogs so there was quite a rewarding moment today when we met someone with three dogs all off their leads one of whom instantly set about Tommy jumping on him and barking but apart from a low growl Tommy ignored it even though I could tell he was busting to sort it out. So I was really proud of him and how far he’s come since I found him five years ago.

That is a very good dog!!!! I can't believe the owner allowed that.
Yay! for Tommy...he's a good dog, you're trained him well! And rescued him...well done!
Good boy Tommy! Wow, how far he's come from that dog on the side of the road. Nice to see what love can do.
I love that Tommy is found story! What a good boy he is...and I am sure a great listener and an excellent walking companion.
Glad you enjoyed your day.

Excellent example of self control! Way to go Tommy!!! We could use some of that around here sometimes :)

Hi Rob
Have a chilled rest of your weekend away. Our rescue dog Sacha was exactly the same when we first got her but 10 years later she has a sniff and walks on just shows what 1:1 care with a dogcan do

What a good boy!
I didn't realize that Tommy had been abandoned, or really lost his way! What a lucky day for him it was when you came along...my heart still breaks wondering what he went through though.
There are no bad dog's only bad owners. Well done Tommy, and good on you Rob for having the patience and love to bring him this far.
I'm going round the rescue centres at the moment looking for another dog. To think I have rejected quite a few because they seem to have awful problems. Your story about Tommy has made me feel guilty now about being too judgemental! I might go and give some a second look...
