To flyball or not to flyball?

This past week I have been thinking that it may be fun to enrol Tess with a local flyball team, I'm sure she would love it and any reservations I have concern myself and not my dog. I haven't done anything like that before, I'm not a competitive person by nature and the last club I joined was the woodworking club at school. Anyway I found the address of a local team and emailed them and it all seems very relaxed and friendly and have invited us to go to one of their training sessions at the end of the month to meet everyone and see what Tess makes of it all. I guess it wouldn't hurt to take a look. Anyway there is a link below for the team I am in contact with.

Furry Tales Flyball Team.

Also for those that don't know what flyball is about here are a couple of video's which explain everything.

It would be interesting to hear from anyone who experience of this form of dog sport.

I don't know any flyball people around here, but I can say, I've met some amazing people through agility.

I asked some questions about it when Deacon was a pup. Around here the teams require level three obedience but the real obstacle for us is that Deacon is ball obsessed! You would think it would be the perfect sport for him...wrong. ALL balls are HIS and sharing is not an option. Flyball is great fun to watch though!

One of our neighbours has over 300 baseballs in garbage bins that Deacon has brought home from the ball park across the street. They play a lot of baseball so we ship them over there.

Flyball looks like a fun sport... especially for the dogs :-)

Flyball is such a brilliant thing for dogs to do, but especially for border collies who do need an outlet for their herding instinct. I think there is an age restriction on flyball, to give small growing dogs to develop properly. Tess might well join in some easy training sessions, but I think the jumping waits till she is a bit older.
