NOTE
1) The new Dahlia tubers are some that me and Vicki bought the other weekend so what I do is grow them on at work and then take some cuttings from them for the hall gardens for letting me grow them on in their greenhouses that way everyone is a winner.

EB Yes you’re right, the Allett mower is a beast. It has a 36 inch cut and weights nearly half a ton.
Jeanette Such times are always sad ones, it comes to us all though which is why we have to enjoy it while we can. I hope everything goes as well as it can for you all.

How soon can you plant your Dahlia tubers? Do you have to wait until for sure after the last frost, or can you plant them sooner? Do you need to plant them sooner?
Wow, what a mower! Sorry - I have become very naff in my interest in all things lawn-related.
My grand-father's first ever job was pulling a mower in a big garden. He didn't do it for long! (he worked with horses after that, then driving lorries, then as an account-clerk on the railways - had to get an indoor job having had pneumonia twice).
I've never grown dahlias. I killed one once and got scared off. Might try again next year.
It's not mower time again surely - that looks quite a monster. We have a lot of lawn (or should I say at present a lot of moss). Our snowdrops grow in our biggest lawn so that is a good excuse for delaying the mowing. Nice to have you back blogging - I miss your gardening diary.
